13 Ways to Earn Money Testing Websites and Apps (2024)

If you are reading this, you’d make an excellent usability tester! Seriously. Usability testing jobs are perfect for everyday internet and app users like you and me. The best part? You don’t need any experience or special training. You just need to be comfortable navigating websites and apps while speaking your thoughts out loud.

And, as usability testing jobs gain popularity, there are plenty of opportunities to earn money from home each month. In fact, there are 13 reputable companies you can sign up with to start earning as much as $15 for each 20 minute test you complete.

Ready to start getting paid for your thoughts? Check out these 13 Ways to Earn Money Testing Websites and Apps in your free time.

Analysia

With an internet connection and a microphone you can start earning extra money with Analysia. Once you sign up, you get an email alert when tests are available. Most tests will take just 10 to 15 minutes to complete. For each one you finish, you get ten bucks. Payments are made through PayPal. The number of tests you’ll get to take depends on your profile and demographics.

Apptourage

Apptourage is the new kid on the block compared to the other companies on this list. Recently launched, they focus on app testing. It is super simple to join their panel and complete tests. After you sign up, you will be alerted every time a test is available. You don’t need to download anything special or record your voice. Simply perform a few taps and swipes and get paid for each in-app test you complete.

Enroll

Enroll is a lot like Apptourage. You complete small tests in return for small payments. I’m an active Enroll user. And while I haven’t made a ton of money, I have cashed out a number of times. Since the tasks are super short, it doesn’t even feel like you’re doing work. It’s kind of like being paid a quarter just for tapping your screen or clicking your mouse. Of course, they have some tests that pay a lot more, too. When you’re ready to cash out, payments are made via Paypal.

Erli Bird

As an Erli Bird Early Adopter, you get to join a community of beta testers. The kinds of tests available vary quite a bit. Some are short app tests and others are much more involved studies. This means that payments range quite a bit, too. You can expect to earn anywhere from a few bucks up to $15.00 for testing an app with Erli Bird.

Mob4Hire

If you live a mobile lifestyle, Mob4Hire wants you for their usability testing jobs! This extra income opportunity is available worldwide. In fact, Mob4Hire has over 65,000 testers on their panel living in 185 countries around the world. The premise of Mob4Hire is that you test out apps in real world situations to find bugs. Payments are based on how complex a task is.

MyCrowd

MyCrowd operates a bit differently than the rest of the usability testing jobs. Instead of setting payments, there are bounties. You get paid a ‘bounty’ for every bug or error you find. So, you’ve got to be quick to beat out your fellow tester in finding any bugs in an app or on a website. Compensation for a found issue is based on how severe it is. For example, a simple spelling error or typo would not be worth nearly as much as a broken link or checkout process. If you’re competitive, this just might be the perfect usability testing job for you.

StartUpLift

When startups want feedback, they turn to StartUpLift for help. You can join as a tester and get paid $5 for each bit of feedback you provide. Keep in mind, the startups will either accept or reject your feedback. So, if you don’t provide thoughtful and insightful reports, you risk not getting approved for payment. When a payment is approved, you will be paid via PayPal.

TryMyUI

At TryMyUI, you can expect to get a few usability testing jobs each week. Each test pays $10. So, it’s really a good opportunity to make a hundred bucks or so each month for minimal effort! Tests last about 20 minutes on average. All you need to do to be a successful tester is be yourself. If you can voice your thoughts and frustrations out loud, you’d make a great TryMyUI tester.

User Testing

It’s no secret that User Testing is my personal favorite provider of usability testing jobs! I’ve been testing with them for a couple of years now. They’ve never been late with a payment and have amazing support. Their tests range from five-minute “Peek Tests” that pay $3 and longer studies that can pay a hundred dollars or more. On average, though, you can expect to earn $10 for each website test you complete. Payments are made through PayPal one week after you’ve completed a test.

Userlytics

Userlytics requires a webcam and microphone to become a tester. Once you register, you will be invited to take tests. After you provide your feedback, you get paid. Pretty simple, right? Userlytics pays $10 for each test you complete. All payments are made via PayPal.

uTest

At uTest, it takes just a minute to sign up and start accepting usability testing jobs. uTest is a little different than the other sites. You can complete tests online and offline. You can find paid projects that appeal to you and only complete the ones you feel comfortable doing.

What Users Do

This is another opportunity for international candidates to find usability testing jobs. Applying takes just five minutes. Once approved, you download a screen recorder. When you take tests, the screen recorder captures your on-screen movements and records your voice. Every test you complete pays $8.00. Payments are made via PayPal.

YouEye

To join YouEye, you will have to take a sample test. This is to make sure you are a good fit for their studies. After you’ve been approved, it usually takes two weeks to start receiving tests. When you complete studies and provide valuable feedback, you get paid. Tests typically start out at $12 each. Although, on their site, it states testers can average $25 a test. YouEye records your screen, voice, and face during tests. So, you’ve got to be comfortable being video recorded as you complete tests.

Get Paid to Test Websites and Apps

There you have it, 13 usability testing jobs you can sign up for — today! I almost exclusively test with User Testing and can earn a couple hundred buck each month on average. Not a ton, I know, but for an extra money-maker, it’s pretty great. I like usability testing because it doesn’t feel like work. The way I look at it is, I’m going to visit websites and use apps, why not get paid for it?
