A RECENT state tax credit program may provide some comfort to families that are having financial difficulties paying their expenses.
The Oregon legislature established the child tax credit in 2023 to give low-income families a useful payment. Oregonians who live with young dependent children are eligible for the refundable credit.
The federal earned income tax credit (EITC) is comparable to this program. If a person receives both installments, their tax refund might increase to over $13,000.
For 2023, the EITC is available to individuals with an adjusted gross income of up to $63,398.
An eligible candidate must reside in Oregon, have dependent children, and be under a certain income threshold. The amount of money allotted to Oregon residents depends on their income and the amount of children they have, as per Oregon.gov.
The maximum amount of benefits available is $5,000. Partial credit is also available for families or individuals with a MAGI of $30,000 or less.
