How do I find out which directory is taking up more space? ›

An old-fashioned phone book is a directory, an alphabetical list of the people in your city or town, along with their phone number and address. These days such a directory is more often found online. In computing, a directory is also known as a folder, and it contains information about how data is stored in a computer.

The Videos, Music, Pictures, and Downloads folders usually contain the largest files that you've saved to your device. To see the size of the files in a folder, select the View tab, then select Details. Right-click in the open space and then select Sort by > Size to show the largest files at the top of the list.
