In Elden Ring, Spirit Ashes will serve as stalwart, if dispensable, companions across the myriad boss battles you’ll face. But to make the most of these spectral allies, you’ll need to upgrade Spirit Ashes using Grave Gloveworts or Ghost Gloveworts. Both plants are a rare resource that doesn’t respawn, meaning tracking them down can be tricky. We’ve rounded up the best Grave Glovewort locations and Ghost Glovewort locations for Elden Ring’s opening stages below so you can boost your favorite spirits to higher levels.
Elden Ring: Ghost and Grave Glovewort locations map
Grave Gloworts are used to upgrade standard Spirit Ashes, while Ghost Gloveworts are used to upgrade Renowned Spirit Ashes. If you’ve not done so already, we recommend picking up the best early game Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring before you start spending this key upgrade materials. You’ll also need to have spoken with Roderika and the Roundtable Blacksmith to unlock Spirit Ashes upgrades.
Thankfully, both Grave Glovewort and Ghost Gloveworts are found in the same type of location: Underground Tombs, also known as catacombs. These are dotted all over Elden Ring’s map, typically in the side of cliff walls. Several in the early Limgrave and Liurnia regions offer a large number of Ghost and Grave Gloveworts to collect, so we’ve highlighted them below.
Limgrave Ghost and Grave Glovewort locations
Limgrave has three main underground tombs you can raid for an early supply of Gloveworts. Stormfoot Catacombs is northwest of the Church of Elleh and includes the first level of both Grave Glovewort and Ghost Glovewort upgrade materials.
Next up is Murkwater Catacombs, found at the end of the river leading north from Lake Agheel. This also a Grave Glovewort (1) and Ghost Glovewort (1) location. You can also snag some Grave Glovewort from Murkwater Cave, the location of the merchant Patches on the way here
Finally, Deathtouched Catacombs to the north of the Limgrave region is another Grave Glovewort location. Visiting all of these will secure you plenty +1 upgrades for your early Spirit Ashes.
Weeping Peninsula Ghost and Grave Glovewort locations
Shifting south to Weeping Peninsula, two Catacombs await. The Tombsward Catacombs are south of the Church of Pilgrimage, and contain Grave Glovewort (2) along with the first tiers of both.
For another Glovewort location in Elden Ring, visit the northeast Impaler’s Catacombs to snag some Ghost Glovewort (2) and Grave Glovewort (2).
Liurnia Ghost and Grave Glovewort locations
Shifting north to Liurnia, three more catacombs await. The first, Cliffbottom Catacombs, can be found down a slope in the southeast corner of the region. This is your first chance to grab Ghost Glovewort (3) and Grave Glovewort (3), along with some more of the second tier.
On the west side of the map, another slope leads down to Road’s End Catacombs southwest of Revenger’s Shack. Inside you can snag more tier two Glovewort locations along with Grave Glovewort (3). Keep an eye out for the illusory walls here and check our Spirit-Caller Snail guide if you’re struggling with the boss!
Managed to fight through the terrifying finger spiders to beat Royal Knight Loretta in Caria Manor and you can access the Behind Caria Manor Site of Grace. Follow this area around to the right and you'll enter a graveyard sprinkled with Grave Gloveworts to collect.
Finally, far up in the northwest of the region are the Black Knife Catacombs. These contain a wealth of higher-tier Gloveworts to get, including Grave Glovewort (4). This location is a key part of Sorcerer Rogier’s quest, and contains an optional boss for you to discover!
Over in the deadly east of Caelid, two more Grave Glovewort locations await. Thankfully, both are in the west of the region, making them a touch easier to visit. Firstup are the Minor Erdtree Catacombs, where you can find Grave Glovewort (5) and lower.
Follow the path to the south and just east of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion you’ll find the Caelid Catacombs. Along with yet another Cemetary Shade, you can find more Grave Glovewort locations here.

Grave Glovewort grows in the many Catacombs dotting The Lands Between, and they seem to be grouped by region. For example, you'll find Grave Glovewort 1 in Limgrave's Catacombs and Grave Glovewort 3 in Liurnia's, though there is often some overlap.
Grave Glovewort [1] Location in Elden Ring. Where to find Grave Glovewort [1]: 2x inside the Tombsward Catacombs at the Weeping Peninsula: One found in the room to the right of the boss door. A second one is found near a sarcophagus on the bottom level of the first room with a second floor.
There are six Grave and Ghost Glovewort Bell Bearings across The Lands Between. Here's where they all are. Finding the Ghost Glovewort and Grave Glovewort locations in Elden Ring is one of the most difficult and time consuming parts of your journey.
Defeat the Erdtree Burial Watchdog boss within to get the Bell Bearing as a reward. This Bearing will add the Grave Glovewort 1 (800 Runes), Grave Glovewort 2 (1,200 Runes), and Grave Glovewort 3 (1,600 Runes) to the Twin Maiden Husks shop in unlimited quantities.
Grave Gloveworts are very important materials in Elden Ring, allowing players to strengthen their Spirit Ashes. While fans will undoubtedly encounter some amount of this material as they explore the map, it is also possible to purchase an unlimited number of it.
They can also be purchased from the Twin Maiden Husks anytime for a pretty low price, but players first have to locate the Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing and offer it to the vendor in Roundtable Hold.
One found in the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave: In the large hall with the Troll, drop down from either side of the platform into a room with a Fire Prelate. Defeat it and check the very back of the room for the glovewort.
Grave Glovewort [7] Location in Elden Ring. By a set of steps opposite the first Lesser Burial Watchdog encountered. Upon reaching the lift, take it to the lower level and then step on the plate again to send it back up. When it's fully raised, you can find an opening in the lift column.
To unlock Grave Glovewort (4), (5), and (6) for purchase from the Twin Maiden Husks, you will need to offer them the Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2). The husks are found right before the Dung Eater's room and just after Sir Gideon Ofnir's study, though they can be easy to miss enshrouded in darkness.
Where to find Grave Glovewort [5]: Can be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold after offering them the Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2).
The glovewort is found near the end of the second set of cleavers, next to an opening in the wall on the right. The last one is found after after opening the boss door by defeating the Grave Warden Duelist.
Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing [1] is a Key Item in Elden Ring. Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing [1] can be offered to the Twin Maiden Husks to gain access to new shop items.
Found under the bridge Nokstella, Eternal City. [Map Link] One found in Mohgwyn Palace, north of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace [Map coordinates -180.9, 154.3].
Where to find Ghost Glovewort [4]: Can be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold after giving them Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2)Found at the top of the main waterfall in northern Siofra River. This cliff is one level lower than the highest level.
What is the Max Level in Elden Ring? Hitting max level in Elden Ring means getting to level 713, which costs 1,692,558,415 runes in total. To accomplish this, Fireman_Artsen beat the game enough times to get to New Game+ 8, while also doing plenty of co-op and rune farming.
To level up in Elden Ring, you must spend runes to purchase stat points. Each of the eight stats caps at 99, so the absolute maximum level in Elden Ring is 713.
After grabbing the Bell Bearing, travel to the Roundtable Hold and follow the left passage to the Twin Maiden Husks, who sell items to the player. Offer them the Ghost Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (3), and they will be supplied with an unlimited stock of Ghost Glovewort 7, 8 & 9 for purchase.
Ghost Glovewort 7, 8, and 9 can be found in various locations across the map, such as sections of Ainsel River or at the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum of Mohgwyn Palace. However, to buy an unlimited stock of these Ghost Gloveworts in Elden Ring, Tarnished must acquire the Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing 3.
Where to find Ghost Glovewort [7]: Found in a ruins in northern Uhl Palace Ruins with two large statues at the entrance. [Map Link] Ainsel River Main, behind and to southeast of the Malformed Star miniboss, where the cave wall meets the gate wall.
After you're done exploring the courtyard, head back inside the building and through the southwestern doorway is a lift going down. This lift will take you down to the Haligtree Roots Site of Grace.
By cheesing Radagon, either until death or until beating him only requires a few more hits, players can ensure they go into The Elden Beast fight unscathed. This is a huge advantage, especially if players reduce their Holy damage via the Haligdrake Talisman.
The most potent of these is the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, of which there are only eight in the entirety of the game. You'll need these Somber Dragon Smithing Stones to max out some of the most powerful weapons in the game, but FromSoft makes you work for it.
You can find it by progressing through the Mohgwyn Palace area near end of the zone, but a little before you fight the boss. The enemies are very strong in this area, but always remember that running past them is a viable option.
But to make the most of these spectral allies, you'll need to upgrade Spirit Ashes using Grave Gloveworts or Ghost Gloveworts. Both plants are a rare resource that doesn't respawn, meaning tracking them down can be tricky.
The easiest way to acquire Ghost Glovewort 6 is simply to buy it. Provided you have the Ghost-Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2), you can purchase Ghost Glovewort 6 from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold for 6,000 runes apiece.
Found behind a large stone building in Siofra River, in an area only accessible by using a waygate south of the Worshippers' Woods site of grace, southwest of the Dragonkin Soldier.
Found on a corpse on an upper cliff east of the fountain plaza. This is in an upper area accessed after ascending the Dragon Temple Lift northwest of the temple. From the lift, head east and down the stairs past a tree. Climb up the ledges to reach the top of the cliff and collect the stone.
Where to find Ghost Glovewort [3]: Found in the middle of of a tall ruined wall next to the lower Hallowed Grounds in Siofra River. A gust of wind can be found at the edge of the cliff closest to the ruin, boosting you up to the top.
To unlock Grave Glovewort (4), (5), and (6) for purchase from the Twin Maiden Husks, you will need to offer them the Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2). The husks are found right before the Dung Eater's room and just after Sir Gideon Ofnir's study, though they can be easy to miss enshrouded in darkness.
Where to find Grave Glovewort [5]: Can be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold after offering them the Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2). The first is found in the room with the cleaver traps, at the back. The second one is found in the sewer area, right where the Golden Order Knight is fought.
The second one is found by turning the corner in the corridor to the right of the boss door. The third one is found by heading up the stairs to the right of the door sealed by an Imp Statue and following the path to an alcove in a small room at the end.
Whenever you pick up a bell bearing, bring it to the Twin Maiden Husks and offer it to them. This will add a handful of new items to their shop. If the bell bearing came from a vendor, for example, it will add all of their wares to the Twin Maiden Husk shop.
When you arrive at the Nokstella, Eternal City Site of Grace, head west until you get to a miniature ravine filled with the Silver Tear NPCs that look like metallic blobs. Upon reaching the middle of this ravine, there will be one Ghost Glovewort 8 on the ground to your left and one to your right.
Avoid Holy damage: As another major demigod of the Golden Order, Godfrey absorbs a significant amount of Holy damage. He's also resistant to the build up of Bleed, Frost, and Sleep making it tough to trigger their damage bursts on him.
