CACTUS FOR TURTLES
Food for reptiles
TURTLES
Land turtles, for example, do not only eat lettuce. We must administer them a varied and balanced diet. In general, we must provide them with foods rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals. For the young of the land turtle, we must add extra calcium. Vegetables, greens and fruits make up their diet:
• Fruits: watermelon, pineapple, apple.
• Vegetables: cactus (rich in calcium), lettuce, celery white, tomato, carrots, pumpkin, cucumber, Chinese rose flower.

CLEANING
In nature, eating cacti is not an easy task, but reptiles have claws. The claws will remove the spikes of the cactus so they are able to eat the green flesh. But in captivity, it is better to wash the leaves well and remove the thorns with a knife before feeding it to the reptiles. Our cactus, the Nopal de Castilla, is a variety without many spikes, ideal to use as a vegetable in the feeding of your reptiles. You can chop it and add it to lettuce/vegetables or simply in itself.
