Britain’s Got Talent 2022 will culminate tonight when the 10 final acts go head-to-head in the live grand final to take home the grand prize.
After getting through that first daunting audition in front of a whole stadium of people (not to mention Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden), and making their way through the live rounds, you’d hope the winners of Britain’s Got Talent get something to make it all worth it.
So just what do they get for being the most talented act in Britain?
Here is everything you need to know.
What do Britain’s Got Talent winners get?
The winners of BGT get both a cash prize and the chance to perform on a huge platform at the Royal Variety Performance.
When the show started, the first-place winner was handed a cheque for £100,000.
In 2012, that prize money reached a record-high of £500,000 but, for the last few seasons, the prize money has been £250,000.
But it isn’t just prize money the winners get – they get the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
The annual variety show raises money for the Royal Variety Charity, of which the Queen is patron.
Senior members of the Royal Family traditionally attend, although the Queen hasn’t been since 2012.
Who won BGT last year?
The last winner of BGT was way back in 2020.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Britain’s Got Talent didn’t air in 2021 marking the first year it had been off-air since it began in 2007.
The last time the show was on air was back in October 2020, when comedic pianist Jon Courtenay won the series.
The Britain’s Got Talent live grand final will start at 7.30pm tonight on ITV and ITV Hub.
