"I was unexpectedly diagnosed with an illness that was thankfully cured by surgery. I travel a lot and was unsure how this would affect travel insurance. I phoned Staysure and was given clear and helpful information, asked quite detailed health questions and was finally given a very competitive quote for an annual policy with the option to pay monthly. Very efficient service, great company to deal with."

"Have used Staysure for a number of years. 2 yrs ago had to cancel our holiday because my husband needed an urgent operation. Staysure sorted our claim with no fuss or hassle and quickly."

Does travel insurance cover cancelled flights?
If your flight has been cancelled by the airline, you’ll need to contact your travel provider. They should be able to offer you a full refund or rearrange your flight. If your travel provider is unable to offer you a full refund, or rebook your flight, you may be able to claim back the costs of your trip through your credit card company, or on your holiday insurance.
If you’ve been able to rearrange your flights, you’ll need to update your travel insurance policy with the new travel dates.
If you’re a Staysure customer, you can log in to your My Staysure account to do this. You can only make changes to your policy before you’re meant to travel.
What’s the difference between cancellation cover and curtailment cover?
Cancellation cover is designed to protect you if you’re forced to cancel your trip before you travel.
If you've already started your journey, or arrived at your destination, and need to cut your trip short you can use curtailment cover.
If you need to cut your trip short, please contact us first. We'll handle the necessary travel arrangements to bring you home.
Does travel insurance cover cruise cancellations?
Buy your Cruise Travel Insurance as soon as you book your cruise to be covered for cancellations.
If you opt for a Single Trip policy, you will be covered from the moment you take out travel insurance, as long as you let us know you’ll be going on a cruise.
On the other hand, if you choose an Annual policy, the cancellation cover takes effect from the policy start date or when your policy becomes 'active'. If you delay the policy start date, you won't be covered if you need to cancel your trip.

Do I need cancellation cover for my holiday?
Although holiday cancellation insurance isn't essential for travel, we think you'll agree it's important to have. It can cover you if you’re forced to cancel your trip for unforeseen reasons outside of your control.
Travel insurance can also cover you against unexpected costs if something on your trip doesn't go to plan, or if you need emergency medical treatment. Discover more in our guide to what travel insurance is for.
Does travel cancellation insurance cover UK trips?

What is “cancel for any reason” travel insurance?
Some travel insurers offer an optional add-on that can cover you if you need to cancel your holiday for a reason not listed in the policy. Generally they will partially reimburse you for trip costs. You'll find these policies will charge you a higher premium because of this.
Our policies do not offer cover for 'cancel for any reason'.
Can I make a claim on my travel insurance if I have to cancel due to COVID-19?
You may be covered by cancellation travel insurance for COVID-19 if you fall ill or test positive before you travel and can provide proof of medical certification or test result.
To be covered for COVID, you’ll need to be travelling to a place that the FCDO have not advised against travel to.
You’ll also need to have had all of the COVID vaccinations that have been offered to you. If you declined any doses of the vaccination (unless medically exempt), you won’t be covered for any COVID-related claims.
