Honey Pairings — Board + Brie (2024)

Honey, one of our favorite charcuterie accompaniments, adds a gorgeous amber color to our boards and has endless pairing possibilities. Honeybringsout the natural flavor of the cheese because the sweetness of honey is complimentary to saltier foods. We love to add a jar of honey or portion of honeycomb to all of our boards. Of course, you can’t serve honey without an adorable honey dipper.

Favorite Honey Pairings

  • Honey + Brie

Brie and Triple Creams were made for honey. Using a water cracker as your foundation, add a wedge of Brie, a drizzle of honey, and a pistachio. Not a fan of nuts? Try a piece of salami in place of the nut. Honey brings out the creaminess of the Brie and compliments the slightly salty flavor.

  • Honey + Bleu Cheese

If you don't care for the strong taste of bleu cheese, this combination is for you. The sweetness of honey mellows out the flavors of stronger cheeses. Like Brie, the creamy interior of a Bleu cheese along with the earthy taste pairs nicely with honey and fruit. We love topping a pear with bleu cheese crumbles and a drizzle of honey. This combination can even be added to a toasted crostini for a dinner party appetizer.

  • Honey + Prosciutto + Peach

Like cheese, honey also pairs well with charcuterie meats such as prosciutto. When peaches are in season, wrap a small amount of prosciutto around the peach and drizzle with honey. This combination is like a bite of sunshine with the rich aromatic essences coming from the juicy peach and the prosciutto balances out the sweetness of the honey. If you want to take this combination to the next level, grill your peach first to add a slight smokey flavor.

  • Honey + Pistachios

At the end of the evening, when there are only a few nuts and drops at the bottom of the honey jar left on your charcuterie board, this combination of Honey and Pistachios can be your dessert. You'll be reminded of baklava minus the crunchy phyllo dough.

  • Honey + Sharp Cheddar Cheese + Granny Smith Apple

In some regions of the country, adding sharp cheddar cheese to apple pie is common. The savory cheese creates the perfect salty-sweet combination to end your Thanksgiving dinner. Similarly, you can pair sharp Cheddar cheese and a Granny Smith apple with a drizzle of honey and you’ll be reminded of that Thanksgiving apple pie. The crisp apple compliments the creamy cheese and the sweetness of the honey balances out the tartness of the apple.

  • Honey + Walnuts + Fig + Soft Cheese

When fresh figs are in season, we go a little crazy enjoying their aromatic andsweet flavor. If figs aren’t in season, you can try this combination with dried figs. Let a soft cheese come to room temperature and cut a wedge. Top the wedge of cheese with half a fig, walnut, and drizzle with honey. You can also substitute other nuts, but we love the tangy and sharp notes in walnuts complimenting the cheese and how the tannins in walnuts balance out the sweetness of honey and the fruity figs.

We recommend any neutral honey, Wildflower Honey, or Orange Blossom Honey for the above pairings. You can also substitute honeycomb. Honeycomb tastes like honey with a slight crunch. Using a knife cut off a tiny chunk and add to the pairings above. Do you have a favorite way to eat honey on a Charcuterie Board?
