Does anyone know of a weed killer that I can spray on the weeds in my hosta bed that won't harm the hostas?
I don't mind pulling an occasional weed, but I have a sudden explosion of teeny-tiny weeds. I don't know what they're called, but if I sat there and pulled each one, I'd be weeding for at least a year. lol... I thought I could spray them with something instead. Yes? No?

NO, not in your zone now. You can safely use a Round Up type product BEFORE any eyes emerge. You need to do this very early in the season. It will work in cold temps, it just takes longer.
If you have a heavy problem with weeds and the eyes are just emerging, you can cover the eyes up with a big pot to spray, but don't remove the pot until you are sure the product is bone dry on the weed.
For those tee tiny weeds, I use a hoe. Most weed seeds will not regenerate from the roots if you catch them early enough. I also have a hand tool that looks like a hoe blade but is very sharp and I use that in areas with the tiny seedlings and it cuts them off.
Good luck eliminating them, they are a PITA.

I pay my kids to grab those. :) They come out so quick and easy - we each pick a spot and clear them out then move to another. Amazing what we canget done in an hour!

If you have grass in your hosta beds you can safely get rid of it with a herbicide specifically for grass. But remember, it will not differentiate between ornamental grasses and the stuff you want to get rid of. Always read the label before using any herbicide.
I used some herbicide to get rid of grass in my oriental poppy bed and it's really made a difference. And there were some hosta in that bed too, and it didn't bother them in the least. Again, always read the label before using any herbicide.
