I am an American Hotel manager and marketing professional. I desire to work in hospitality in Jamaica. I would like to work at a property that needs some good management and marketing where I can assist in making it profitable. I have excellent contacts in the industry and can perhaps bring in some operating capital and new business.
Please share your thoughts.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the visit. Jamaica’s largest source of income is from tourism. Hospitality plays a huge roll on the island. Many local schools and colleges in Jamaica provide the hotels with internships. Many Managers position are filled with trained managers locally, managers working for large chains transfer to Jamaica as well as foreign trained staff like yourself applying for a “Help Wanted” add.
Jamaica’s three biggest tourist markets are Montego Bay, Ochio Rios and Negril. In every industry, there are always opportunities for creativity and unique individuals. Hotels are being built continuously and by searching hotels in one of the tourist town you can go on their site and submit your resume. You can also register with employment agency.
Unless you live in Jamaica or visit and tour Jamaica, it more difficult to say what property needs good management without knowing their goals. However, if you are living/working on the island and building relationships it would be much easier to identify “A property that needs some good Management and Marketing.”
In our opinion, “Silver Seas” hotel in Ochio Rios which was once the talk of the town need that service. We also feel “Travellers Beach Resort in Negril” which is family run can use some “Operating Capital” But again, we have not spoken to anyone from either hotel from that perspective. Finally, in our opinion, by working in the local market it would give you true credibility and tangible result while building relationship to expand your horizon.
Best of luck, hope we were helpfulLog in to Reply

Hi Janiel,
You are the perfect candidate for Agriculture Training Institute/college because you know what you want. To be successful, you will run into some obstacles & some frustrations, expect it. “Don’t Give Up.” Opportunity does exist for the trying man, the brilliant mind. I am not aware of any program outside of staying in school. While college does cost money, it’s the best investment for a brighter future. Your question shows you are ambitious, please reach out to a higher education Today and ask. What does it take to enroll? How can I..? Then start your planning.Getting the proper education and building relationships with your teachers, is the easiest way to get recommendation for government grants and Lease Land to start your business. Best of luck, I know you will be successful. See website below. Thanks for the visit.

Eugene, Thanks for the visit, please keep checking back.
One of the key business our team always talk about is
(1) “Reasonable Price Hotel” Cost of living is low in Jamaica and hotel prices are high. There is a huge market in Jamaica for hotel accommodations, double occupancy for under US$100. People want a clean place that’s reasonable price.
(2) Solar Panel is the future, the fastest-growing renewable and alternative energy sources. Solar panel manufacturers, great market. LED Light bulbs.
(3) Agricultural and related Farming investment. Jamaica can’t cultivate Scotch Bonnet Peppers and other related farming product fast enough for the market place. Please read the article “Why Scotch Bonnet Peppers are in such High Demand” on the website.
