Passive Income Report | Blog Earnnings ⋆ A July Dreamer (2024)

Passive income reports are nothing new in the blogging world, mine I called Financial Reports. When I last shared Q4 2016 blog earnings I mentioned that for 2017 I would be sharing them 6 monthly. I am sad to report that did not happen, somehow I didn’t feel motivated enough to write the post. With only 3 months left until the end of the year I figured I share the Passive income report from January 2017. I will break the earnings into 6-monthly then share Quarter 3 earnings and then in December will share the final report.

Passive Income Report

I must reiterate that sharing blog earnings is not for everyone, for some it’s their livelihood but for me it’s extra income. Obviously I don’t share my payslip with the world but I see nothing wrong with sharing earnings with readers. And I will tell you why I share:

  • It helps me keep track of my earnings for tax purposes which everyone knows April for UK is a painful time. If you don’t have a good system in place it’s hard to stay on top of your earnings. When it’s time to submit my taxes I struggle because clients pay in all shapes and sizes.
  • Motivation not only to myself to keep up my work but other bloggers too. I have read so many income reports and noticed that everyone seems to earn lots from affiliate marketing. For me affiliate marketing has not worked well but I am hoping to change that next year. I hope other bloggers can see that you can make passive income from the blog. You don’t have to have mega numbers to make a decent income from blogging.
  • Humbles me to know that something that started as a hobby is now a small business. When I started 2013 I would have laughed in your face if you said I would make money from my blog. Dedication, passion and consistency truly pays off when you put in the time.

Recap of 2016 earnings

Before I go ahead and share what I made in quarter three 2017, here is a recap of 2016 earnings. And possibly a little disclaimer too, all earnings shared here are made via sponsored collaborations. I am yet to hack the affiliate marketing world so I am fortunate to earn passive income this way. Here is how much I made each quarter last year:

  • Jan-Mar {Q1 2016} – £1680
  • Apr-Jun {Q2 2016} – £645
  • Jul-Sep {Q3 2016} – £703
  • Oct-Dec {Q4 2016} –£781.41

GRAND TOTAL = £3809.41

Obviously this is all pre PayPal fees and pre tax and national insurance but it’s enough for passive income. Blogging has opened so many doors for me that I never thought possible without. It is truly humbling to be in a position to earn a little on the side for those rainy days or just to treat myself. With that being said, let’s look at how much I made in the first 6 months of the year.

  • January – June 2017 –£2,393.68

As I have shared before, affiliate marketing is something I have failed to hack. The earnings I have shared above are all from sponsored collaborations of three kinds which I accept. One is sponsored post {I wrote}, content submission {client wrote} and product reviews {I write, I charge a fee plus keep the product}. You can read my work with me page for the various fee categories I offer on the blog.

Quarter Three {3} Passive Income Report

The last three months of the year have been the busiest ones ever in my blogging and personal history. Though I have reduced how often I fly off abroad, I have upped my local adventures. In terms of blogging we’ve done lots of restaurant and event reviews and collaborated with a mixture of brands. You can check out the many sponsors I have worked with in my Monthly Sponsors posts.

Many people ask me how I am able to make money from my blog and the simple answer is ‘I have no clue‘. I am amazed every single time an email pops into my inbox asking to work with me. Yes I have been building a small business online without even knowing it. I offer a service that some companies and brands want and most of all I am a real person. There is no magic wand in my world of how I make money blogging, all I can say is I am honoured. I don’t want to bore you any further but here is how much I made in the last three months.

  • July – September –£2,158.81
