In this review, I give you my thoughts onUltimate Quik Wax, a synthetic spray wax from Meguiar’s USA.
If you’ve read my review of Turtle Wax Jet Black Black Spray Wax, you’ll know I’m a sucker for products that help me do a thorough detail in less time. Spray wax, although not a substitute for a proper waxing every few months or so, helps to supplement a primary layer of wax on a vehicle and increase the length of periods between reapplying a layer of paste or liquid wax.
Meguiar’s is a brand name that many auto detailing enthusiasts and professionals alike know and trust, so when choosing a spray wax, it is understandable that whatever products Meguiar’s have to choose from in terms of spray waxes would be a starting point for many people. Meguiar’s in fact produces three types of spray waxes – Quik Wax (which is applied while drying to cut down detailing time even more), Ultimate Quik Wax (a fully synthetic spray wax) and Gold Class Premium Quik Wax (a blend of carnauba and polymer wax).
If you’ve read my review of Turtle Wax Jet Black Black Spray Wax you’ll know that the chief disadvantage of spray waxes is their lack of durability. Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax doesn’t break from that tradition and a coat of UQW will therefore last for about 4 weeks or so before a re-application is required (some water beading may persist beyond 4 weeks, but on most of the horizontal surfaces that feature will have all but disappeared).
Shine time: The finish left behind on my Toyota after a spritz with Meguiar’s UQW.
Key points
- Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax
- Value for money: OK – I would recommend purchasing UQW while it’s on sale.
- Size: 450 ml (15.2 fl. oz)
- Durability: Good…for a spray wax
