On Tuesday evening, Taylor Swift held a moment of silence forAretha Franklin - who died, age 76, on August 16, from pancreatic cancer.
It has also been confirmed that Taylor's fellow pop starlet Ariana Grande will sing at the Queen Of Soul's funeral - which takes place this week in Aretha's hometown of Detroit.
Taylor was performing a leg of her Reputation tour at Detroit'sFord Field on Tuesday night when she asked the tech team to kill the lights, so that she and her audience could honour the late singer.

'Last week we lost an irreplaceable force,' Taylor said. 'Aretha Franklin did so much for music, she did so much for women’s rights, she did so much for civil rights. She was one of those people where no matter what you said, no matter what glowing positive thing you said about her, it would be an understatement.
'Words could never, ever describe how many things she did in her lifetime that made our world a better place. And this is her home.

Aretha's rep, Gwendolyn Quinn, explained that the late songstress met Ariana when the two performed at the White House in 2014 for then-President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as part of the Women Of Soul concert.
She added that Aretha and Ariana hit it off and that the late star's family was moved by Ariana's performance of (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman after her death.

Aretha's funeral is a two-day occasion; on Tuesday there was a ceremony in which her gold casket was left open for public mourners to pay their respects.
This took place at theCharles H. Wright Museum of African American History and Aretha appeared dressed in a red suit and crimson pumps. Gold thread spelled out Aretha Franklin, The Queen Of Soulin the casket’s lining.
The private service will take place on Friday. Although it's not for the public to attend, it will be streamed online and on TV.
