If you are one of the lucky Brits who may be harbouring some spectacularly valued 50p coins then you’re in for a treat.
Coins such as the WWF animal coin, the Jemima Puddle-Duck coin, Kew Gardens coin, London 2012 Olympics coin, the Offside Rule coin, and the EC Commemorative coin could be worth an evener prettier penny.
The EC Commemorative50p coin
In order to celebrate Britain’s Presidency of the European Council in 1992, The Royal Mint issued a commemorative coin for the event.
At the time only 109,000 coins of this design were issued and is a larger size than that of the 50p we have in our pockets today because the size of the coin was uniformly reduced in 1997.
So, if you have this coin lying around you will know about it, not only that but this particular coin couldcoin the owner £20.
The Jemima Puddle-Duck 50p coin
This artistic delight on the back of this 50p coin was issued to celebrate what would be Beatrix’s Potter’s 150th birthday.
The Royal Mint released only 2.1 million versions of this coin into circulation in 2016, so it is the sixth most scarce coin in the UK.
The price responds to the rarity as the 50p cartoon coin is said to be wortharound£400, as people are forking out that amount online for the rare penny.
You canbuy the coin in other corners of the internet for around £10, so there is no confirmed value for the coin, but the longer you leave it the more valuable they become.
The WWF 50p coin
The World Wildlife Fund was featured on a special design 50p coin that was released by The Royal Mint in 2011.
The design features 50 cartoons of animals such as dolphins, frogs and butterflies with the famous WWF panda logo in the centre.
It was designed by Matthew Dent and united favourable public opinion of the WWF at the time.
The coin is a good one to have on you as it can sell for £200 or more if you have kept it in pristine condition.

The Kew Gardens 50p coin
London’s Kew Gardens were memorialised for their 250th anniversary with the beautiful 50p coin released in 2009.
Only 210,000 coins of the design were released into circulation by The Royal Mint, with 300 of the Kew Garden 50p coins believed to be held in private vaults.
The coin is believed to be worth £50, which is a great payout for 50p, but there are a few of these rare coins listed online for £200, with many selling up to that price.

Another incredibly rare form of 50p is the Offside Rule Explained coin that attempts to verse the whole of Britain on the crucial role of offside in football.
The Royal Mint has gone a long way to stop football stadium fights.
This coin has been traded online for around £10 a go, meaning the coin is worth 20 times its face value.
Although the Royal Mint released over 1 million of these 50p coins into circulation they were quickly hoarded by collectors making them even rarer now.
The London 2012 Aquatics 50p coin
This coin was released by the Royal Mint in 2012 as part of their coin series in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics.
This coin featuring a swimmer in the water with their goggles was one of 29 coins released for the games.
The Royal Mint released 2.179 million of these 50p coins making leaving them somewhere in the middle of the scarcity scale.
The Royal Mint estimates that as many as 75% of the Olympic 50p coins have been hoarded by collectors making some more scarce than you would believe.
The coin is available online for at most around £15.
